POLIFILM supports Rallye Car

The “Aïcha des Gazelles” rally in Morocco is the world’s only rally where only women compete against each other. At the same time, this racing event creates a new vision for car contests as a GPS device may not be used. The drivers only have maps and a compass to help them with orientation, the whole course is off-road. The aim of the rally is to find certain coordinates. It’s not the fastest team that wins but the team that covers the shortest distance. Specific control points also have to be reached over the whole course. If this doesn’t happen you receive penalty kilometres. Tactical thinking is also called for as each team decides themselves whether for example they bypass or pass over a mountain. The drivers are allowed to plan their route in advance without using a navigation system. After completing the route planning, it’s time for the actual race. A race day starts at dawn and lasts on average 10 to 13 hours. The teams start at two minute intervals. POLIFILM was a sponsor for the team consisting of the English driver from the United Kingdom Jeanette James and Anne Marie Borg from France. The driver achieved a superb second place in their Volkswagen Amarok.
