Securing of load units – added safety in freight transport

Owing to constant population growth, the transportation of goods is increasing worldwide. As a result of this, it is becoming ever more essential to package products intelligently in order to meet the necessary safety, efficiency and sustainability standards.

Here, stretch films play a crucial role in modern securing of load units. While the demand for films for protecting pallets in freight transport has already reached 5.5 million tonnes per year in 2016, the annual consumption is set to increase to 7 million tonnes by 2021. At around 80%, stretch films make up the majority of this.

As one of the world's biggest producers of stretch film, POLIFILM offers high quality stretch films for securing of load units, tested in accordance with DIN EN 12195-1 and VDI 2700, which ensure excellent securing of pallets during transportation thanks to their outstanding retaining forces.

In order to be able to offer even more efficient solutions in the future, POLIFILM is now combining its know-how right along the value chain - beginning from raw materials through to optimal use in the end users' packaging lines. Within the framework of a sense of shared responsibility, POLIFILM, Dow, Robopac and PepsiCo stand for efficient and safe securing of load units in freight transport.

Faulty or absent securing of load units costs companies millions of Euros every year. Alongside damaged goods, the risk of accidents is, above all, a major reason to react as early as possible here and to optimise the securing of load units.
