EUMOS brings transparency and safety to load securing.
POLIFILM Cast brings EUMOS directly to you.
Transport safely. Act with legal certainty. Reduce costs and risks.
Pallets that merely “look good” aren’t enough. During emergency braking, evasive maneuvers or cornering, enormous forces act on the load – only physically stable load units withstand these real-world conditions. The EUMOS 40509 test standard provides objective proof: it evaluates the stability of load units under realistic dynamic loads. Companies benefit from increased transport safety, fewer damages, clearly documented compliance and significantly improved process reliability throughout the entire supply chain.
Your benefits of EUMOS-certified load units at a glance:
- Legally relevant
Meets the requirements of EU Directive 2014/47/EU and Section 22 of the German Road Traffic Regulations (StVO). - Physically tested
Proven stability through realistic load testing - Recognized throughout Europe
A standardized benchmark for inspections across Europe - Advantage during roadside inspections & damage claims
Objective proof instead of discussions
Obtain your EUMOS certificate with POLIFILM CAST
With our mobile test laboratory, our specialists test your load units directly at your site according to the EUMOS standard and advise you on optimization potential in terms of both safety and cost savings. Selecting the appropriate stretch film plays a crucial role. You receive the EUMOS test certificate after successful testing as your compliance documentation.

What does the EUMOS 40509 standard define?
The EUMOS 40509 standard defines which deformations and displacements of the load unit may occur during transport and sets clear limit values. It distinguishes between 3 types: dynamic deformation, permanent deformation and displacement of the individual layers.
Dynamic deformation | Stability in motion – dynamic load
Dynamic deformation occurs when the load briefly moves during emergency braking or a sudden maneuver. A certain temporarily limited deformation is normal. However, according to EUMOS 40509, this must not exceed 10%.
Permanent deformation | Long-term stability – after transport
The counterpart to dynamic deformation is permanent deformation. Here, EUMOS 40509 evaluates whether the pallet after transport is stable or whether the load has shifted permanently. The limit values are:
maximum 5% permanent deformation;
for tall pallets (>120 cm) max. 6 cm; in the lower area: max. 4 cm
Layer displacement | Compact load structure – no layer shifting
A frequent cause of instability is that individual layers shift against each other.
To keep the load compact, displacement between the layers according to EUMOS 40509 may be a maximum of 2%. This prevents cartons from shifting or the stack from “opening up”.
How do I test whether my load units comply with EUMOS 40509?
Testing load units according to EUMOS 40509 requires dynamic testing, where the examination is carried out on a designated acceleration track. POLIFILM CAST offers you, with the Rolling Lab, the ideal service solution for testing directly on-site, without the need to ship pallets to an external test center.

We bring load securing tests directly to our customers
Our mobile test truck, the Rolling Lab, brings the right testing technology straight to you. All tests are carried out on your premises – without the need to send test pallets to external laboratories – and include identifying opportunities for optimisation through the selection of the most suitable film. This saves time, reduces costs and delivers fast, practical results for greater security in your supply chain.
