EcoVadis Platinum for POLIFILM extrusion operations
From silver status directly to the platinum medal

From silver status directly to the platinum medal – this coup was achieved by the POLIFILM companies that operated under the umbrella of the extrusion subgroup until last year.
The extrusion companies POLIFILM Cast GmbH, POLIFILM Performance Films GmbH, along with the production facilities in Neukirchen and Osterburken, as well as the affiliated logistics company TSL GmbH and POLIFILM Services & Infrastructure GmbH, have been awarded a platinum rating by the independent rating agency EcoVadis for the 2024 assessment period. EcoVadis awards the platinum medal to only 1% of the highest-rated companies worldwide.
This outstanding achievement is the result of a significant improvement in sustainability practices across all four key areas: environment, ethics, labour and human rights, and sustainable procurement.
‘The EcoVadis assessment of our sustainability management has always been an additional motivation for us to optimise our sustainability-related processes and activities and it has been a success, as this year’s result proves,’ comments Jens Kölble, Managing Director of POLIFILM Performance Films, on the platinum medal achieved for the companies that were collectively analysed under the POLIFILM Extrusion Group. Kölble, who has driven the project forward internally, adds: ‘At the same time, the rating is also an important tool for us in our interactions with customers and other stakeholders. In today’s world, transparency in terms of sustainability is more important than ever, not only at product level but across the entire value chain.’

In 2018, the Weißandt-Gölzau site, under the former company name POLIFILM EXTRUSION GmbH, was evaluated by EcoVadis for the first time and the group gradually expanded to include its other production sites in Osterburken and Neukirchen. Since then, the companies have received several bronze medals, silver last year and now their first platinum.
EcoVadis’ business sustainability ratings are based on international sustainability standards such as the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, the International Labour Organization (ILO) conventions, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and the ISO 26000 standard. The ratings provide an evidenced-based analysis on performance and an actionable roadmap for continuous improvement.
