POLICYCLE opts for RecyClass certification for product and process
As a recycling specialist and film manufacturer, POLICYCLE Deutschland GmbH knows how important transparency is when it comes to recycled materials. Therefore, the company, based in Weißandt-Gölzau, relies on external certification of its recycling processes and selected films for the construction industry by RecyClass.
RecyClass is a cross-industry initiative that aims to improve the recyclability of plastic products while promoting the traceability of plastic waste and recycled plastics in Europe. RecyClass certifications are among the most recognised European industry audit programmes today. POLICYCLE uses two of the three available certification schemes according to the EN 15343:2007 and ISO 22095:2020 standards:
The one for the recycling process of pre- and post-consumer waste, which enables the allocation of the waste origin and thus sets the starting point for the further traceability of recyclates along the value chain.
As well as the one for the use of traceably produced recyclates in products and their percentage share in the product.
For the latter, POLICYCLE is focusing on selected construction film types for initial certification that consist of up to 93% recycled post-consumer material, thus joining the ranks of the POLIFILM Group’s extrusion plants that offer RecyClass-certified products.
