Polifilm Extrusion focusses on independent operating structure for business units
New company structure for more flexibility
Polifilm Extrusion GmbH, part of the family-owned Polifilm Group, a leading manufacturer of extrusion and protective film solutions, is reorganising its corporate structure to continue to be optimally positioned for customers in the complex market environment.
“The markets we are operating in have developed in recent years and it has been proven more than ever the key to success is agility built on a solid foundation,” says Christian Runkel, CEO of the Polifilm Group, and continues “Polifilm Extrusion has been building on the latter for decades through being part of the Polifilm Group and now, it is time to strengthen its flexibility.” To achieve this, the Cast and Packaging and Performance Films business units will become two independent companies with effect from 1 January 2025, each dedicated to its own original business purpose.
POLIFILM Cast GmbH focusses on the development, production and distribution of stretch films for the retail and end customer segment and will further strengthen its presence in Europe through planned capacity expansion.
POLIFILM Performance Films GmbH specialises in the development, production and sale of a wide range of laminating film solutions, primarily films for mono-material solutions including printing films, some award-winning label films and sophisticated process films as layers in laminates or as carrier films, as well as sophisticated packaging films for primary and secondary packaging. With this high-performance portfolio, the division already serves various national and international customers from a wide range of industries, from pharmaceuticals and food to online mail order and the processing sector.
The corporate reorganisation will be accompanied by ongoing investment in both internationalisation and production technologies for a growing, sustainable portfolio. The management will be familiar faces from the Polifilm Extrusion management team. Hikmet Kalkan will become Managing Director of Polifilm Cast GmbH and Jens Kölble Managing Director of Polifilm Performance Films GmbH.
Polifilm Extrusion GmbH, in which the service functions such as personnel, purchasing and finance for a number of the German Polifilm companies will remain will be renamed Polifilm Services & Infrastructure GmbH and managed by Patrick Ihms (Chairman), Mario Straßberger and Thomas Schlüter.
The strategy of strengthening business units by founding independent companies is nothing new for the Polifilm Group. At the beginning of 2023, the Recycling division of Polifilm Extrusion GmbH became Policycle Deutschland GmbH; with great success, as the growing number of customer projects and awards shows.
