Protection for Glass

Coated Glass

Coatings for glass surfaces are incredibly thin, but very effective. For example, a low-emissivity coating reflects thermal radiation and improves the insulating properties of a window. To do this, however, it must be protected against damage and corrosion during the production process. A range of suitable protective films from POLIFILM PROTECTION offer glass manufacturers considerable advantages.

Perfect for almost any coating

POLIFILM PROTECTION protective films for coated glass are compatible with all common coatings. The chemical properties and visual appearance of the coating are fully preserved. The adhesive system and formulation are adapted to the requirements of the coated glass down to the smallest detail so that they adhere perfectly during processing. The coating remains protected from scratches and other damage throughout the whole process and is even preserved when removing the film.

Effective protection against corrosion

Contact with oxygen in the air can cause the metallic coating of a low-emissivity window to oxidise. Applying POLIFILM PROTECTION protective films for coated glass prevents this chemical reaction throughout the entire production process, even when cutting and washing the glass. The films meet all the manufacturers' requirements for edge deletion for corrosion protection.

Maximum width with a single roll of film

POLIFILM PROTECTION supplies protective films for coated glass in widths of up to 3,220 mm thereby enabling glass manufacturers to be able to protect the standard width of 3,210 mm with a single film width. There’s no longer any need to apply overlapping rolls of film. This has two distinct advantages: firstly, it saves material and working time, making production more cost efficient and secondly, it decreases the chances of wrinkles, blisters or tunnels forming: an important requirement for uncompromising protection.

Protective films for coated glass at a glance

  • Prevention: the films protect coatings from corrosion and mechanical damage.
  • Compatibility: film formulation suitable for all common coatings.
  • Excellent processing characteristics: A single roll of film covers the standard glass width and is even suitable for edge deletion.
  • Perfect lamination:  prevents wrinkles, blisters, or tunnels from forming.
