POLIFILM – specialist lecture at the annual symposium “Flexible Packaging Europe”
The "Flexible Packaging Europe" (FPE) association represents the collaboration of European manufacturers of flexible packaging materials on an international level, and combines safety and expertise for customer transparency and consumer questions on flexible packaging.
FPE deals with key topics relating to flexible packaging, e.g. questions of sustainability and environmental protection, but also relevant topics of daily use, such as safety during food contact, and other consumer concerns.
At the annual symposium of the FPE association, POLIFILM was represented on 22 May 2017 in Oberhof, with a specialist lecture on the topic of "current trends and possible uses of laminating films". The specialist lecture was given by Jörg Wingefeld, Area Manager of Technical Films, to top class company representatives, and included an outlook on the future focus of this market and compound packaging on using laminating films. The business area of Technical Films is one of the market leaders in the area of laminating films, which are used in resealable food or convenience packages, for example.
The topic of sustainability is an important topic in the area of laminating films, meaning that in the future, the use of organic plastics or downgauging (less use of material with the same or better film parameters) will increasingly be a focus. According to the purpose, certain packaging characteristics can be realised by using these films, e.g. oxygen absorption through the use of oxygen-absorbing films. There are a multitude of areas of use.
The FPE member companies account for more than 80% of the European turnover for flexible packaging. POLIFILM has been working very closely with many members of the association for a long time.
