Biobased Protective Films
Total sustainability – from the film to the adhesive
- Zero fossil resources
Bio-based feedstocks replace fossil resources in production - Reduced carbon footprint
Alternative raw materials can reduce CO2 emissions in the value chain - Quality assured
Bio-based raw materials offer the same high quality as using conventional materials
Protective films made from renewable raw materials
Natural resources, reduced carbon footprint
For customers who want to improve the carbon footprint of their product, we offer a comprehensive range of “green” solutions based on renewable resources, from the carrier film to the adhesive system.
Our bio-based carrier films
Our environmentally friendly carrier films consist of more than 85 percent bio-based polyethylene, also known as “Green PE”. They have a very good carbon footprint due to the CO2 emissions associated with their production being around two thirds lower than those of conventional protective films. As a customer, you also benefit from effortless integration into your processing and the same mechanical properties that you value in our protective films based on fossil raw materials.
Our sustainable adhesive solutions
- Mass-balanced acrylic adhesive
The adhesive has a biomass content attributed via the mass balance approach. - Natural rubber adhesive
As rubber is a natural raw material, our adhesive system can contain up to 50 percent biomass, depending on the concentration.

Recyclable
Our bio-based protective films can be easily recycled. Our subgroup POLICYCLE processes film waste into plastic recyclate which is reincorporated into new films.
ISCC PLUS certified solutions
from the POLIFILM Group
The certification for sustainable film products
With the ISCC PLUS certification it is possible for our sister company and group owned raw film supplier POLIFILM EXTRUSION to use biobased, biocircular and circular polyolefins like polyethylene and polypropylene in the film production and to produce the corresponding certified carrier films with different proportions of the aforementioned materials.
